Free Upgrade from Con Ed
Con Edison and Public Energy Solutions (PES) are bringing Operation Kill-A-Watt to Bushwick. The program helps selected businesses and residents save energy costs. As part of the program, free energy-efficient lighting upgrades will be made available from PES to eligible building owners.
Public Energy Solutions and Con Edison are urging all retail, commercial, industrial, and multi-family Con Edison customers in these zip codes, 11206, 11207, 11211, 11213, 11216, 11221, 11233, 11236,11237, and 11238 to enroll in the program. Building owners who are using 25 or more incandescent light bulbs in their buildings can sign up for free Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) through Operation Kill-A-Watt (table lamps are excluded). These energy efficient lamps reduce energy costs by consuming 80% less energy than incandescent bulbs, and lasting 10 times longer. CFLs also burn cooler than traditional bulbs, which can help lower air conditioning expenses in the summer by reducing overall heat emission throughout the building. Operation Kill-A-Watt will pay eligible customers for each replaced incandescent bulbs according to its wattage.
“Smart building owners and facility managers know the value of keeping energy expenses low. Additionally, this City needs all the help it can get when it comes to reducing demand on the power grid,” said Keith Hartman, President of Public Energy Solutions. “Operation Kill-A-Watt provides New Yorkers with a perfect opportunity to upgrade their lighting systems. Free bulbs and free money—it’s a no-brainer.”
PES was contracted by Con Edison for this exclusive program to reduce demand on the City’s power grid in targeted neighborhoods and load areas. Thus far, 90 percent of customers enrolled in the program received lighting upgrades at absolutely no cost with no payments required. Half the customers saved 50 percent on their total electric bill from Con Edison; the other half saved over 25 percent on their Con Edison electric bills.
Operation Kill-A-Watt services energy hot spots in Manhattan, Queens, Westchester County as well as serving several other areas of Brooklyn.
