Operation Kill-A-Watt to give away an estimated $1 Million to make New York City buildings greener

Englewood, NJ
December 15, 2006

Public Energy Solutions (PES) announced today the launch of Operation Kill-A-Watt in New York, a new program to help selected businesses and residents in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and Westchester County reap the energy-cost saving benefits of “going green.” Public Energy Solutions is launching Operation Kill-A-Watt after being contracted by Con Edison to manage their targeted load reduction program throughout the City. As part of the program, free energy-efficient lighting upgrades as well as cash back will be made available from PES to eligible building owners from now until February 15, 2007.
Public Energy Solutions and Con Edison are urging New Yorkers in selected zip codes and targeted load areas who are using 25 or more incandescent light bulbs in their buildings to sign up for free Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) through Operation Kill-A-Watt (table lamps are excluded).

Customers who sign up for free CFLs also receive the environmental and green benefits of using CFLs. These energy efficient lamps reduce energy costs by consuming 80% less energy than incandescent bulbs and last 10 times longer. CFLs also burn cooler than traditional bulbs, which can help lower air conditioning expenses in the summer by reducing overall heat emission throughout the building. Operation Kill-a-Watt will pay eligible customers for each replaced incandescent bulb by its wattage.
“Smart building owners and facility managers know the value of keeping energy expenses low. Additionally, this City needs all the help it can get when it comes to reducing demand on the power grid,” said Keith Hartman, President of Public Energy Solutions. “Operation Kill-a-Watt provides New Yorkers with a perfect opportunity to upgrade their lighting systems. Free bulbs and free
money – it’s a no-brainer.”

Public Energy Solutions is a nationally recognized lighting and energy services company and is a former division of PSEG Energy Technologies. A proud partner in the EPA Energy Star Change a Light program, the privately held firm helps building owners and facility professionals save energy with cutting-edge lighting, controls, HVAC and load reduction technologies. PES was contracted by Con Edison for this exclusive program to reduce demand on the City’s power grid in targeted neighborhoods and load areas. This summer, major black-outs and brown-outs plagued Queens and other boroughs throughout the City. PES has helped prevent many of these unexpected service interruptions throughout the year.
Operation Kill-A-Watt will service areas of Manhattan including energy hot spots like the Theater District and Times Square. In Queens, Operation Kill-A-Watt is available in many neighborhoods such as Howard Beach, South Ozone Park, and Forest Hills. In Brooklyn, areas that are eligible include Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Crown Heights, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Wyckoff Heights, Cypress Hills, East New York, Brownsville, Greenpoint, Brooklyn Heights, Williamsburg, and Bushwick. In early 2007, Operation Kill-A-Watt will be available in selected areas of Westchester County.

If your building or property has 25 bulbs or more, act now! This offer is available for a limited time only. Contact Public Energy Solutions, tel: (866) 818-1900 ext. 102 or visit www.publicenergysolutions.com.
