Newark Campus Receives Energy-Efficient Makeover

Goal:
Replace existing lighting with energy-efficient equipment in 20 buildings throughout the largest campus of New Jersey's university of the health sciences.

Results:

Updated the lighting system with more energy-efficient T8 fluorescent lamps and electronic ballasts and replaced traditional incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent lamps where applicable.

bullet Reduced energy consumption by 8,590,229 KWh, cutting the facilities’ total lighting energy use by 38 percent.
bullet Significantly reduced the campus lighting system maintenance costs and lowered overall demand on the area’s power supply.

Passaic Beth Israel Hospital Undergoes Lighting Retrofit with Minimal Hospital Disruption

New Jersey Rebates Offset the Upgrade Capital Cost

Goal:
Upgrade energy systems at Passaic Beth Israel Hospital in Passaic, N.J., with a minimum of disruption to patients and staff.

Results:

Public Energy Solutions:

Retrofitted approximately 2,100 existing lamps, which included replacing T12 fluorescent lamps
and magnetic ballasts with more energy-efficient T8 fluorescent lamps and electronic ballasts.

bullet Performed the upgrade with minimal disruptions to the hospital.
bullet Generated annual energy savings of more than $25,000 and significantly reduced lighting system maintenance costs.
bullet Provided Passaic Beth Israel Hospital with $30,000 in state rebates to offset the cost of fthe project.
