PUBLIC ENERGY SOLUTIONS EXPANDS OPERATION
KILL-A-WATT INTO CRITICAL ELECTRICAL LOAD REDUCTION AREAS OF WESTCHESTER COUNTY
Con Edison Awards Contracts to PES for Major Power-Saving Initiative

Englewood, NJ – February 7, 2007 — Public Energy Solutions (PES), a nationally recognized lighting and energy management services company, has been selected by Con Edison as an exclusive contractor for its energy load reduction program in critical areas of Westchester County, New York. PES will expand its successful Operation Kill-A-Watt program and will focus on reducing power demand by 15,000 kilowatts in towns including White Plains, Dobbs Ferry, Elmsford, Harrison and Rye.

Any retail, commercial, industrial and multi-family buildings that are serviced by Con Edison and are located within the targeted load networks are eligible to take advantage of Operation Kill-A-Watt’s lighting, HVAC and mechanical upgrade program. The initiative provides free, energy-efficient Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) and cash back to buildings with 25 or more incandescent light bulbs. As part of Con Edison’s Targeted Demand Side Management (DSM) initiative launched this year, Operation Kill-A-Watt will focus on communities in Westchester County with the highest peak power demand and the greatest need for immediate upgrades.

“There is no better time for Westchester County building owners to benefit from making environmentally-friendly improvements to their facilities,” said Keith Hartman, president of Public Energy Solutions. “After our success in New York City, we have seen what a difference these lighting, HVAC and mechanical upgrades can do to drastically reduce overall strain on the power system and help business owners cut their energy expenses by 25 to 50 percent.”

PES was selected by Con Edison after responding to the company’s Request for Proposal (RFP) in April 2006. In 2006, Operation Kill-A-Watt helped over 1,500 buildings in Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan save energy and has permanently reduced 8,000 kilowatts from the power grid.

Public Energy Solutions is a nationally recognized lighting and energy services company and is a former division of PSEG Energy Technologies. A proud partner in the EPA Energy Star Change a Light program, the privately held firm helps building owners and facility professionals save energy with cutting-edge lighting, HVAC and mechanical upgrades.

Operation Kill-A-Watt was created in 2005 to demonstrate how educating customers on the benefits of reducing electric demand can improve electric grid reliability during peak periods and reduce prices to all consumers. New Jersey electric customers collectively reduced 300 MW of peak demand on June 16, 2005, demonstrating how much peak electric power can be reduced through awareness.
